Hello again to all of my friends in the MAC Pick ‘Em pool! Another new November week, another slate of midweek MACtion games to look forward to. Last week was ridiculous, so if anything this week surpasses what we saw last week, then I might be ready to say this is the best MAC football season of all time.
But that’s neither here nor there. We’ve got some games to pick.
WEEKS 9 & 10 RESULTS & LEADERBOARD
Last week was pretty brutal for everybody who was in the Pick ‘Em pool — and shoutout to the two new joiners, Greg B and Nick Nenni. As far as game picks go, nobody did better than 3-3 with the six games. Yours truly (me, Alex), Huron Boy, new kid Greg B and Karp all went 3-3 while everybody else had two or one games picked right.
And to make things worse, Ball State really shoulda lost to Akron. That was the one game that everybody in the pool got right. Almost everybody suffered from Buffalo’s upset to Bowling Green (one person got this game right), and almost everybody suffered from Miami’s loss to Ohio (except for two people).
The most lop-sided game ended up being a tie between BGSU at Buffalo and CMU at WMU; both games were decided by 12 points. Four picked BG-Buffalo, but nobody expected it to be because of a huge road win by the Falcons.
The highest-scoring game ended up being a tie between NIU at Kent State and EMU at Toledo; both games finished with 101 total points scored. Worth pointing out that BGSU-Buffalo gave this category a run for its money with 100 points scored in that game. Five people got points here with NIU-Kent as their selections, and one more got it with EMU-UT.
O/U: 72.5 points scored by Ball State + NIU: the OVER crowd has it with 77 total points scored by the two.
O/U: 194.5 pass yards by Buffalo’s Kyle Vantrease vs. BGSU: the UNDER crowd has it; he came out of the game early with an injury.

MY PICKS: WEEK 11
REFER A FRIEND
Refer a friend who hasn’t joined this pool yet, and you both will get 15 extra points for their first set of picks. We’ll be doing this every week for the rest of the season.
PICK ALL OF THE MAC TEAMS THAT WILL WIN THEIR GAMES
Just telling you now that I’m picking Akron to beat Western Michigan on the road. As improbable as an upset as this would be, I’m 5,000% rooting for Oscar Rodriguez Jr., Akron’s interim head coach now that Tom Arth has been fired. There aren’t enough Latinos in football, let alone Latino head coaches at the FBS level. As a Mexican-Filipino American, I’m inclined to root for one of my own this week.
Here are my Week 11 game picks, in which I’m hoping for some other upsets get pulled off, too:
- Akron at WMU — Tues.
- BGSU vs. Toledo — Wed.
- EMU vs. Ohio — Tues.
- Kent State at CMU — Wed.
- Miami vs. Buffalo — Tues.
- NIU vs. Ball State — Wed.
DOUBLE OR TRIPLE?
The three games I’m most confident in this week are:
- Ball State at NIU
- Buffalo at Miami
- Ohio at EMU
- Toledo at BGSU
HIGHEST SCORING GAME?
- Kent State at CMU
COMBINED OVER/UNDER: 61.5 TOTAL POINTS SCORED BY TOLEDO + KENT STATE
Toledo, don’t let me down here.
OVER/UNDER: OHIO QB KURTIS ROURKE 210.5 PASS YARDS AT EMU
Because I have to be a hater here.
