8 MAC teams have offered Springfield, Ohio’s dual-threat QB.

From: Springfield, Ohio / Springfield HS
Offers (as of 2/28/21): Air Force, Akron, Army, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky (FCS), Eastern Michigan, Illinois State (FCS), Kent State, Kentucky, Marshall, Miami-OH, Ohio, Toledo, UAB, UMass, Western Michigan
Te’Sean Smoot, a dual-threat quarterback from Springfield, Ohio is up to 18 total offers including eight from MAC schools, two from FCS schools, and one from the Power 5. Smoot was one of the top offensive players from the Dayton area in 2020, and he’s got the speed and arm strength to compete at the next level. His HS team likes having him show off the long ball to get some yards in a hurry, and he’s got the legs to move the chains when his pocket goes away.
Smoot’s father, Conley, is Springfield’s defensive coordinator, which I’m sure adds an element to the QB’s study habits. The younger Smoot is a lifelong QB, whose current head coach, Maurice Douglass, once said that he saw a Russell Wilson type of factor in him when Smoot was just a freshman.
“I saw that he’s going to be special one of these days,” Douglass said. “He’s a student of the game. They’ve been watching film forever.”
